Basic Usage

This section will cover the basic usage of the Canon 7D.

Step 1

Remove the lens cap and turn on the camera.

Step 2

Locate the Mode Dial and set it to Automatic Mode, if it is not already. Line it up so that the icon circled in blue is next to the white line, enclosed in green.

Step 3

Aim the camera at the subject, centering it in the Area AF frame of the view finder to make focusing easier.

Step 4

Press the shutter button halfway down. This will cause the lens focusing ring to rotate to focus. A beeper will sound and a confirmation light in the viewfinder will light. The built-in flash will pop-up automatically as necessary.

Step 5

Press the shutter button down completely to take the picture. The captured image will be displayed on the LCD monitor for about 2 seconds.
