30 Frame ND (Non-Drop) - Black and white NTSC

30 Frame drop frame - Color NTSC (Never the same color twice)(US/JAPAN) actually uses a frame rate of 29.97 but drops every 00 and 01 frame on every even minute unless its a 10's minute. Since the clock is slower it really take 1 hour and 3.6 seconds to count one hour so they decided to drop some frames. It does this so that the sower clock rate will match real time.

ntsc spec from 1939 before color. why 29.97fps
