Animating masks/paths
Place 2 images in timeline
Highlight top image
Create path using pen tool with at least 5 points
Click on final point to close path
This will create mask automatically
Open Mask in timeline
Click on Mask Path and create keyframe at frame 1
Move pointer to later in timeline
L click on point to make it solid Yellow while others are outline yellow
Change the position of the point and/or orientation of the handles
Move to later in the timeline
L click and hold on pen tool to choose “Convert Vertex Tool”
Click on one of the points and move it – the lines adjacent to the vertex will change from linear to Bezier or vice versa
Move to further along timeline and repeat
Playback animation (resembles shape morphing in Flash)
Can also create mask with Layer>Mask>New Mask
Creating Keys
Create 6 types of files in Photoshop:
- Gradient (b to w)
- White figure on B BG
- B figure on W BG
- Make figure on transparent BG
- Find high contrast continuous tone image (or use the one provided)
- Color image in BG (drawn/painted), duplicate layer, add Layer Mask, draw into
- Import into AE
- Create different kinds of keys using Effects>Key
- Mainly Luma and Color
