Recording audio using the Tascam HD-P2 Cheat sheet

  • Connect mic (external mic gives best sound)
  • On mic, set at flat
  • Takes AA batteries, use AC when possible
  • Settings on top of deck

Set input to mic

Mic to external

Phantom to ON (powers mic - condenser needs power)

set pads to off

low cut to off

limiter to on

stereo link off


  • Start w/ mic level at 5, phones level at 5 (detent position)
  • Power on (L of screen)
  • To record, press record
  • Always wear headphones when recording


to download to computer

  • use firewire cable in bag
  • connect the two devices
  • depress menu button
  • use shuttle/data to move to the last option (mount media?)
  • depress select

the tascam shows up as an external hard drive

  • find the project (you unwittingly started a new one when you started recording)

and drag the files to your machine

OR

  • Unmount the compact flash card and insert into card reader

Holds 400 minutes at CD quality
