Top Panel

1. Set the LEFT INPUT and RIGHT INPUT switched to LINE or MIC. When set to LINE, the Tascam will accept analog inputs from the RCA jack. When set to MIC, the Tascam will accept analog input from the XLR jack.

2. Set the MIC switch to INT to use the built in mono microphone of EXT to use microphones connected to the XLR inputs.

3. Enable PHANTOM if microphones are connected to the XLR inputs that require phantom power.

4. Enable the LEFT and/or RIGHT -20dB PAD if recording from a loud source. This is only for use with XLR inputs.

5. Enable LOW CUT if there is a low frequency noise present such as traffic or air conditioning fans. This introduces an analog filter at 100Hz.

6. Enable LIMITER to protect against unexpected noise from overloading the D/A converters. The STEREO LINK switch, when enabled, cause the limiter to engage both channels when only one channel receives a loud input. If STEREO LINK isn't enabled the limiter will only be applied to one channel.

Menus

The Left/Right input source can be selected between Analog and S/PDIF. This setting can't be made differently for the Left and Right channels. There are two places where this setting can be selected:
1. Within the currently loaded project's Settings menu: Main Menu > Project Menu > Settings > Input Source

Change the setting for the currently loaded project
2. Within Default Project Settings: Main Menu > System Menu> Default Project Settings > Input Source
note: this setting will be used for new projected unless you defined a project template is being used

Transferring Media

1. First connect the Tascam to a computer, either PC or MAC.
2. If this is the first time connected to your computer it may take a minute for it to recognize the device.
3. On the Tascam do to Main Menu > FireWire Dock.
4. The media saved on the Tascam will then become available like any other drive connected.

Reformat Media

Go to Main Menu > System Menu > Media Management > Reformat Media

WARNING: This will delete all data saved on teh Compact Flash card inserted. This data is completely lost so make sure you've backed up your data previously.
