After Effects in class exercise: animating paint tools
esse quam videri
Animating Paint tools
- Import an image to which your drawing will relate into the top layer
- Import a gradient created in Photoshop into the bottom layer
- Highlight the top layer
- Using the paint brush at the top menu, set the paint color to black and create a long, continuous stroke/squiggle.
- Open the Effects/paint brush in the timeline
- In Stroke Options, choose Start
- Keyframe the start point in one position at the beginning of the file and in another position at the end of the file (the drawing will either draw on – accumulate – or off – disappear).
- Play back the animation.
- Apply a Key and set the threshold so that the gradient shows through your drawing
- Animate the gradient
