Animating Paint tools

  • Import an image to which your drawing will relate into the top layer
  • Import a gradient created in Photoshop into the bottom layer
  • Highlight the top layer
  • Using the paint brush at the top menu, set the paint color to black and create a long, continuous stroke/squiggle.
  • Open the Effects/paint brush in the timeline
  • Keyframe the start point in one position at the beginning of the file and in another position at the end of the file (the drawing will either draw on – accumulate – or off – disappear).
  • Play back the animation.
  • Apply a Key and set the threshold so that the gradient shows through your drawing
  • Animate the gradient
  • Tutorial files are in classfolders/TBC/pub
