MTD 1 Final project/paper: Image series: plans A, B and C Due Dec. 5 in class

You will assemble a series of images (either of “found” material, material of your own creation, or a mix), and discuss how we construct meaning from them and the possible meanings that may be constructed. The series should include a minimum of 15 images and a maximum of 20. The project should include a consideration of how the constructed meaning may be changed by altering the sequencing of the images.

Your project should incorporate at least 3 narratives. It could be one beginning and middle with 3 endings, 3 beginnings with the same ending, a beginning and ending with 3 middles. Consider the multiple story lines in “Run Lola Run” when creating your story.

You are encouraged to experiment with form. The narrative should be told not simply with single images replacing one another but should use space in some fashion. If you use the computer to tell your story, think about the space of the screen and how you could use it creatively rather than simply filling the whole frame with each image.

The paper (5-7 pages, MLA format; Times font 12 point, single spaced) should connect to, quote, and discuss meaningfully a minimum of three ideas/concepts/theories that we have considered and that appear in the readings and screenings, with a thoughtful and critical reaction/response (including citations) to one of the source texts paraphrased in the textbook, another work introduced in class, and another text approved in advance by the instructor. Wikipedia will not be accepted as a source. Footnotes should appear at the end of the paper and are not included in the total length.
