Project 2: Personal portfolio
XHTML + CSS
Description: Choose a media that you have at least 6 works in (such as drawing, photography, etc.), and choose something that you have a collection of (again at least 6). You will showcase these (your work and a collection) in a personal portfolio.
The site will endeavor to become representative of its maker without relying upon explicit biographical information (you will have to think about how the collection can enhance the portfolio). How the two sections work together, and the line of thinking behind them, will be part of each students presentation during the critique.
Basic requirements:
1. Full and consistent navigation on each page
2. Media showcases should follow a micro-to-macro format (thumb showcase linked to large files, descriptive text-links to larger media files). In the case of images, students should know how to properly format both thumbnails and large images for the Web.
3. Each section should have a brief description/backstory of the content.
4. "Professional enhancement" -- anything going above and beyond the most basic presentation (such as decorating with graphics or honing in on elegant formatting/typography).
Grading:
Proposal – 15%
Mockup -- 10%
Second presentation – 10%
Project 2 website – 60%
Page on Project 1 website - 5%
A mockup should be a 2D display on paper larger than 8.5x11, giving us enough of an idea of the site structure and design to facillitate feedback. Ink should be used, and all writing and sketches need to be legible. (See Paper Prototype article)
The second presentation should extend beyond the 2D mockup. Students should have digital materials to show, and at least one page that is more-or-less complete (demonstrating the navigation and site design). Ultimately, this should prove that students have continued work on this site since the mockup presentation.
The Project 1 class portfolio page should have a brief description of the project, a screenshot, and an active link to the project itself.
