IAM Network Upgrade – Scheduled Service Outage 3/22-3/31

Posted by & filed under Interactive Arts and Media News Feed, Uncategorized.

Attention IAM Faculty, Staff, and Students,

The whole IAM computer network will be going down for maintenance starting the evening of Friday, March 22nd and will continue through Sunday, March 31st. This will include the main building at 916 S Wabash Ave and the MPC at 1600 S State Street.

IAM technical staff will be working with the Columbia College IT Department to perform a major network upgrade that will require that all network infrastructure and servers be taken out of service for the period of time surrounding Spring Break.

The following services will NOT be available to faculty, staff, and students while our systems are offline:

• IAM Department Website
• IAM Department Wiki
• IAM Department Blogs
• Student WordPress Blogs
• VPN Access
• FTP Access
• Access to SIAM2 Classfolders
• SVN Repos
• IAM Sharepoint Site
• Game Team Sharepoint Site
• IAM Open Lab
• MPC SmartLab

It is very important that faculty and students are aware of the pending maintenance period and that they will not have access to any of their files during the outage. Students will not be able to submit coursework electronically until network services are fully restored.

In a nutshell, there will be no access to any departmental or student web sites, services, or accounts during the outage, nor will there be any remote access to any of our file servers via VPN, FTP, or otherwise.

As portions of our infrastructure are taken down and subsequently upgraded they will then systematically be brought back online for testing.

We will notify faculty and staff as services are brought back online and will do so in a rolling manner each day as we progress through our punch list of tasks. Keep an eye on the IAM Blog as we will send regular updates on our progress as services are restored.

We thank you in advance for your patience during this upgrade.

-IAM Tech Staff
