IAM Associate Professor, Mirella Shannon, recently accepted the position of Associate Dean in the School of Media Arts at Columbia College Chicago. Mirella has been a key faculty member since 2003, acting as coordinator of IAM programming courses and chair of the IAM curriculum committee. We’ll miss her around the department, but know she’s off to some exciting work in the Dean’s office.

“After multiple consultations the school has offered the position to Associate Professor Mirella Shannon, and she has agreed to serve as the new associate dean for the School of Media Arts beginning in August.

Shannon joined the faculty of the Interactive Arts & Media (IAM) department in 2003, where she has served as chair of the departmental curriculum committee as well as a key contributor to the Game Design major.

She also served as the assessment coordinator for IAM and was instrumental in developing comprehensive assessment guidelines for each of the department’s five core classes, as well as developing and implementing systems to assist in class scheduling, capturing and tabulating student assessment questionnaires, and the storage/analysis of course outcome data.

Prior to coming to Columbia College, Shannon served as vice president of institutional operations for the New York investment management firm Neuberger Berman, senior executive for the investment services firm of SEI Corporation, and president of her own management consulting firm which she started in 1992.”
