What Does Your Console Say About You?

This blog was basically a response to an article that MSN wrote, profiling men by what console they play. Ponygirl posted the profile that MSN came up with, then added her own take on it. Obviously the idea of telling how a person acts due to what system they play on is absurd, but what I found interesting is that MSN actually wrote about it. In my eyes, this is bringing video games one step closer to being socially acceptable. Here’s the general idea that was presented for each system:
You can think of the PS3 as the status symbol of the three. It’s the Rolex of the video game world. People who own this want the best.
The Wii owners can’t sit still.
360 owners are violent people who like to socialize.
Obviously these generalizations are entirely wrong, but that’s what makes it fun to read! Kind of like reading the horoscopes in newspapers. I remember seeing articles like this in teen magazines. “What does your boyfriend’s hair color say about him?” So, I’m curious to see how long it will be until we see similar articles in magazines like Cosmo and…whatever other magazines chicks read. As games continue to make their way into the light of the media, I think we can expect to see more of the fun random articles like this, pertaining to video games.
