In-the-closet videogaming…

Well, I’m in the same boat as Soundbadger in that I ordered my copy of Gaming Theory over a week ago from Amazon after lucking out at every book store in Chicago and still have yet to receive it, and I didn’t get a chance to read the article. But after reading the posts by both Copy Steve and SoundBadger, I’m kind of glad I didn’t.

As far as gender roles in gaming are concerned, I think that women all over can finally rejoice about something, because I think videogames, more that any other medium, places many different types of women in very strong and powerful roles. You’ll never see Lara Croft or Samus Aran being victimized. No sir.

As far as the gay issue, it just seems kind of silly to me. Just another way to bring real-world b.s. into something that should be mindless entertainment. Pretty soon someone will make a game where you’re performing abortions and then the whole thing will just be ruined for everyone. And besides, this lady obviously never played Final Fantasy XII, which had the most homo-erotic cast of characters I have ever seen in any form of entertainment, film or otherwise. Not that that’s a bad thing, I thought FFXII was a fantastic RPG.
