“In “Quotation and Originality ’ Emerson tried to come to grips with a cultural Inertia that he saw in the literature of his day.” Based on what we talked about of Disney and Steamboat Mickey blatantly stealing from Steamboat Willy, I wonder if what Emerson thought of as cultural inertia is now stifled, to some extent, by copyright law?
